A meeting between the Executive Council Members of Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) and the Library Unlimited Project team members was held on 16 October 2018 at LU Project office, Shahbag, Dhaka. Both organs have been expecting for a mutual cooperation and collaboration for professional and library development in Bangladesh for a long time.
The meeting was focussed on different industry issues including professional training and development, project and fund and National Library Day 2019 celebration.

Annie Cruze has been awarded the OpenCon 2018 partial grant and invited to attend the event as an early career academic professional.
Ms Annie Cruze, Library Assistant (Administration) American International School, Dhaka (AISD) is going to attend OpenCon 2018, at York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 2 November 2018. The program will be hosted by Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) in partnership with York University, Ryerson University, and the University of Toronto.

Mr Mozammel Bhuyan, a student of the Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka has been awarded the Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Gold Medal, 2016. He is honoured with the Gold Medal for obtaining highest CGPA (3.85 out of 4.00) in B.A. (Hons.) final examination in 2016. He completed his M.A. degree with highest CGPA (3.97 out of 4.00) in 2017. The Medal was handed over to Mr Mozammel during 51st Convocation of the University of Dhaka on October 6, 2018.

The conference was held on 24 to 27 September 2018 in Oulu, Finland.

Under the Annual Performance Agreement (APA), Department of Public Libraries achieved the first position jointly for the year 2017-2018 of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. A crest and certificate were warmly received by Mr Asish Kumar Sarker, Director General (Additional Secretary), Department of Public Libraries, with duly signed by Asaduzzaman Noor, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and Honorable Secretary Mr Md. Nasiruddin Ahmed.
