Student exchange program: Malaysian delegates visit the ISLM Department
To explore the possibility of fostering faculty/student exchange program and collaboration between the Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM), University of Dhaka, and the Faculty of Information Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia are in a stage to start. This exchange program is aiming to bring together researchers, academicians and LIS students of the University of Dhaka and UiTM to present their research results and academic activities. This platform provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and experiences face to face, to establish research relations and to find further opportunities for future collaboration. Through this reciprocal activity, it is hoped that the staff and students from both institutions would be able to enrich knowledge, get insight into the Bangladeshi and Malaysian educational systems, develop professional individuality and experience life in a foreign land.
Bangladesh Association of Librarian’s Information Scientist and Documentalists(BALID) organized a Lecture session on Data Science and Big Data: Challenges and Opportunities for the Information Professionals on 15 February 2020 at Gyntaposh Abdur Razzak Foundation, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
A daylong training workshop on IEEE Xplore Digital Library organized by University Grants Commission (UGC) Digital Library (UDL) was held on Tuesday,03 December 2019 at UGC auditorium.
The Department of Archives and Library has achieved the first position in the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in implementing the Annual Performance Contract for the financial year 2018-19. For the mentioned financial year, they secured the first position among the 17 divisions and organs under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Dr Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal NDC, Secretary of Ministry of Cultural Affairs chaired the session in the Meeting Room of said Ministry on 8 December 2019.
Bangladesh National Scientific and Technical Documentation Centre organized a daylong workshop on 14 November 2019 at Agargaon, Dhaka. Ms Jesmin Aktar, Director General (Additional Secretary) presided over the session while Mr Md. Mubassir Ahsan, Assistant Librarian(Library In-Charge), Southeast University and Mr Habiba Kibria Chowdhury, Assistant Librarian, Jahangirnagar University worked as resource persons. It was an in-house session for the BANSDOC staff members to learn about Integrated Library Management Software “Koha”.
