The Librarian Times celebrates Open Access Week 2018 by conducting a live panel discussion with OA experts and knowledge seekers

The theme for the 2018 International Open Access Week, is “designing equitable foundations for open knowledge.” As part of international Open Access week activities, The Librarian Times celebrated Open Access Week 2018 on Sunday 28 October 2018 with a panel discussion.


It is with deep personal regret that Prof Mahbubur Rahman, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), died at a Singapore hospital on Saturday, 3 November 2018. Prof Mahbubur died after a long struggle with respiratory complications. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of an incredible individual for Bangladesh’s education sector but also for the loss his family suffers. He was only 57.
Md. Moniruzzaman, National Information Officer and Head of United Nations Information Centre (Bangladesh), on 11 October 2018 was conferred with a PhD in Library and Information Science by the University of Kalyani (India) for his research on 


Dr Md. Anwarul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka is going to attend 81st Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) annual meeting (AM) to present a paper. Under the theme ‘Building and sustaining an ethical future with emerging technology’, this year the information science world unites in Vancouver from 10 to 14th November 2018. The Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) has a rich history of providing the “latest and greatest” developments; together, we can find solutions, and make a difference in our workplace and through research.
